SCORE workshops for 2019 begin with a rush

SCORE’s national mission is to foster vibrant small business communities through mentoring and education. The education, in the form of free workshops for Memphis area entrepreneurs, has already started for 2019 and will continue in the coming


Monday, May 6 at Benjamin Hooks Central Library, 6-7:30 p.m.: Does Quickbooks present a maze you have trouble navigating? Everett Burton is a Certified Quickbooks consultant who will answer your questions and explain the mysteries of recordkeeping, bookkeeping and taxes using Quickbooks. Thursday, May 23 at Benjamin Hooks Central Library, 6-7:30 p.m.: Carolyn Watkins is an acclaimed attorney who has worked with the Shelby County administration for several years. If you want to know how to qualify for and land government contracts, make sure to attend because she will teach the ins and outs of that process. Monday, June 3, at Benjamin Hooks Central Library, 6-7:30 p.m.: Workshops about starting non-profits are always among the more popular events SCORE Memphis puts on. The next one comes up on June 3. Myron Mays always puts on a presentation that is educational and entertaining, so bring your questions and a notebook. He'll be able to give you answers. Thursday, June 20 at Benjamin Hooks Central Library, 6-7:30 p.m.: What messages are you sending out through your appearance, abilities and behaviors. The adage "you never get a second chance to make a first impression" gets repeated frequently for a reason: It's true. Find out how to make your first impression a better one. Dr. Janet Cherry is a Certified Communication and Etiquette Coach and she will (politely) teach you things you need to know.
